Kevin Raub, one of the passengers that came in from Vienna witnesses: “Stuck in the air over #LisbonAirport due to drone. No flights landing. Fantastic.”
It’s not the first drone sighting at Lisbon this week as on Monday (17 September) a TAP Air Portugal Airbus A340 from Maputo spotted a drone on its left hand side, forcing a Transavia Boeing 737-800 (F-HTVH) coming in from Nantes to make a go-around and attempt a second landing.
On 21 August, air traffic at Lisbon Airport was halted for eight minutes after a drone fell on the runway. In the first half of this year, Portuguese aviation authorities have already logged 16 drone incidents in the vicinity of national airports.
On 28 July, a new drone-law (no. 58/2018) came into force, the violation of this decree can be punished with a fine between 300 and 7,500 euros.
