Liege Cargo Agency (LCA), a neutral private company providing air cargo services at Liege Airport (Belgium), is the first Walloon company to obtain BE-GATE authorisation. Active in the air freight sector, LCA now simplifies administrative procedures related to e-commerce thanks to the new digital system developed by the Belgian Federal Public Service Finance, Customs and Excise.
For Eric Bruckmann, CEO of Liege Cargo Agency, this new recognition confirms the quality of services offered to airport customers: “We are very proud to be the first Walloon SME to receive this authorisation issued by the Belgian customs. This is an asset for our customers active in e-commerce which generates more and more volumes at Liege Airport.”
In concrete terms, Be-Gate covers:
• a secure electronic connection between the e-commerce operator and customs specifically adapted to processing large amounts of data;
• allowing effective customs controls based on risk analysis;
• improved communication for maximum transaction speed;
• anticipating upcoming legislative changes.
This certification is therefore very important in the context of the development of LCA but also for activities in general at Liege Airport. For Eric Bruckmann, the digitalisation of formalities positions LCA as ‘Best in class’: “The Customs and Excise services at Liege Airport are ‘customers’ oriented and this is a major asset in the context of constantly developing activities. Thanks to a modern, efficient administration, private companies can boost their business.”
The number of LCA employees has grown from 7 to 34 in just over a year. This new certification will further increase the customs clearance capacity for faster and more voluminous e-commerce transfers at Liege airport.
