This night between 01:30 and 04:30 (UTC +2), the Eastern part of Belgian airspace will be closed due to staff shortage at Belgian Air Navigation Service Provider skeyes.

Only 4 days ago, skeyes was forced to close the Western part of the airspace. The closure will affect the operations at Liège Airport, the Walloon airport heavily relies on nightly cargo traffic.

While the closure of the Belgian airspace is not due to a strike, it is clear evidence of the current social conflict at skeyes. Air traffic controllers are complaining about staff shortages, and they are not eager to take over extra shifts.
