Liège Airport delivered a standout performance in 2025, reinforcing its ambition to rank among Europe’s top three cargo airports. Freight volumes surged by 14% year-on-year to 1,324,579 tonnes, the strongest growth recorded among the ten largest European cargo airports.
Cargo aircraft movements also increased, rising 6% to 28,822 movements in the airport’s core business. December confirmed the positive momentum, with volumes up 16% to 119,742 tonnes and cargo movements growing 7% to 2,536 flights compared with December 2024.
Overall aircraft movements for the year remained stable at 36,979, broadly in line with 2024. Cargo flights accounted for the majority, highlighting Liège’s clear specialisation in freight operations.
The operational profile continues to evolve as well. Daytime flights now represent 65.5% of movements, while night-time operations have fallen to 34.5%, continuing a structural shift that began several years ago (down from 59% night flights in 2020).
With sustained volume growth, increasing cargo activity, and a more balanced day–night operation, Liège Airport is consolidating its position as one of Europe’s fastest-growing and most strategically important air cargo hubs.
