Liège Airport plans to invest 50 million euros in 2018, according to a statement released Wednesday. Four new parking spaces for wide-body aircraft will be built for an amount of 30 million euros, while 20,000m² of additional cargo halls will be developed at a cost of 20 million euros.
“The increase in volumes we experienced in 2017 will not disappear in 2018. We must anticipate this growth and accelerate the development plan that we had prepared,” said Luc Partoune, CEO of Liege Airport.
The Walloon Airports Company (Sowaer) is responsible for prefinancing the investment for the construction of the aircraft parking spaces, which are expected in 2019. This infrastructure is part of the “Flexpress” strategy of Liège Airport giving priority to cargo.
In 2017, Liège Airport will have had a record year, with more than 700,000 tonnes processed.
