On Wednesday 20 February 2019 in Johannesburg (South Africa), Liege Airport won the “International Cargo Airport of the Year” award. This recognition is the crowning achievement of a bold cargo-focused strategy and confirms Liege Airport’s position as a leader on the world stage. In 2018, Liege Airport beat its cargo record with 870,000 tonnes carried, or a growth of 21.5%.
The Air Cargo Africa Conference 2019 was held in Johannesburg from 19 to 21 February and was attended by key airlines active in freight transport, forwarders and logistics providers.
The STAT Trade Times Award Ceremony took place during the conference. The STAT Times international award for excellence in air freight has been an integral part of the AIR CARGO INDIA and AIR CARGO AFRICA professional trade fairs, which have taken place since 2006. The award represents the effort of the publication to identify and recognise the best in the air freight industry. The selection process actively involves all readers of the STAT Times in order to designate the industry’s best players in each category. All votes were audited by an adjudicating committee before the winners were announced.
In the “International Cargo Airport of the Year” category, Liege Airport was nominated alongside Changi Airport Group (Singapore), Dnata for Dubai World Central, East Midlands Airport (United Kingdom) and Hong Kong International Airport.
The accolade was awarded to Liege Airport by airport management professionals.
