Air traffic at Liège Airport was suspended again on Sunday evening after multiple drones were sighted near the airport — the third disruption in as many days, according to Skeyes, Belgium’s air traffic control agency.
The first drone was spotted around 19:30, prompting an immediate halt to takeoffs and landings. Two additional drones were then reported around 19:45. Air operations resumed at approximately 20:25, Liège Airport and Skeyes confirmed.
Drone sightings have now become almost daily occurrences over Liège Airport, following similar incidents Saturday evening and earlier last week. Brussels Airport also experienced temporary shutdowns on Tuesday and Thursday evenings due to suspected drone activity.
In recent weeks, drones have repeatedly been observed over Belgian military installations, prompting heightened concern among security officials. Authorities are investigating the origins and possible motives behind the incursions, as speculation grows about potential links to hybrid warfare and foreign interference.
