Kuwait’s main international airport was damaged in an Iranian missile and drone attack early Wednesday, prompting the suspension of all flights and air traffic.
According to Kuwaiti authorities, the attack caused damage to Terminal 1, the airport’s principal international passenger facility, and injured several people, who received medical treatment. The extent of the injuries was not immediately disclosed.
The incident marks the second recent attack on the airport. Terminal 1 had reopened only days earlier after repairs from damage sustained during a previous Iranian strike in late February.
The closure of Kuwait International Airport is expected to disrupt regional air travel and cargo operations, while highlighting the growing impact of the conflict on critical civilian infrastructure in the Gulf.
