Torrential rain exceeding 100 litres per square metre flooded Ibiza Airport on Tuesday, with water leaking into the terminal’s security area and spreading widely.
The downpour overwhelmed drainage systems, leading to average flight delays of 30 minutes, some exceeding three hours, and temporary diversions due to poor visibility. The Iberia flight to Palma, scheduled for 07:00, did not take off until 10:13, according to Aena data.
Aena confirmed repair work is underway to address the leaks.
