Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) recorded steady growth in September despite multiple typhoons affecting operations. The airport handled 4.42 million passengers (+9.2% year-on-year) and 30,080 flight movements (+1.6%), with strong demand from the Mainland, Taiwan, Japan, and Vietnam.
Cargo throughput totalled 408,000 tonnes, a slight 1.0% decline compared with September 2024, as typhoon disruptions and trade policy uncertainty weighed on performance. Growth in cargo traffic to Europe and the Middle East helped offset weaker volumes to and from North America.
For the first nine months of 2025, HKIA served 44.7 million passengers (+14.8%) and 290,885 flights (+8.9%), while cargo rose 2.2% to 3.67 million tonnes.
On a 12-month rolling basis, passenger volume increased 15.8% to 58.8 million, flight movements rose 10.3% to 387,110, and cargo throughput climbed 4.1% to 5.02 million tonnes, underscoring HKIA’s continued recovery momentum.
