Hong Kong International Airport will suspend all passenger flights from 20:00 on September 23 to 08:00 on September 25, according to Qantas Airways, as the city braces for Super Typhoon Ragasa. While the Airport Authority has not formally confirmed the closure, it said preparations are underway.
The Hong Kong Observatory will raise storm warnings from Monday, with conditions expected to worsen sharply on Tuesday and hurricane-force winds forecast offshore and at higher elevations on Wednesday. Residents rushed to stock up on supplies, with supermarkets reporting shortages and steep price hikes.
Cathay Pacific is monitoring the situation but has not yet cancelled flights. Meanwhile, in the Philippines, authorities suspended work and classes in Metro Manila and other regions as Ragasa advanced toward northern Luzon with destructive winds and heavy rainfall.
