Air traffic at Helsinki Airport resumed on Friday morning, May 15, 2026, after authorities temporarily suspended operations between 04:00 and 07:00.
A potentially dangerous unmanned aerial vehicle, or drone, was flying in the air over Uusimaa on Friday morning. Air Force F/A-18 Hornets were dispatched over Uusimaa and off the coast of Helsinki.
Although flights are operating again, the disruption is expected to cause delays and cancellations throughout the day, with knock-on effects potentially continuing into the afternoon for both departures and arrivals.
Passengers are advised to monitor updates from their airline regarding the status of their flight.
Finavia confirmed that its airports remained open as normal during the disruption.
