Hamburg Airport authorities were forced to close its security check point on Friday evening after a man was able to board a flight without a boarding pass. Five aircraft diverted to nearby airports, eleven other flights got cancelled (*).
The German Federal Police tweeted the announcement of the measure and the subsequent delays. The police said that the man was known to authorities and that a security sweep was required to check the terminal buildings. Nothing suspicious was found.
The man, not carrying an ID nor hand luggage, has now been handed over to the Federal Police. The man didn’t check in for a particular flight.
