Three completely new destinations and more choice on ten other routes // Swimming breaks in Spain, Greece, Turkey and Egypt remain most popular
“Together with our airline partners, we are once again offering our passengers a diverse range of routes with attractive new destinations for the 2019 summer season,” says Katja Bromm, Press Officer at Hamburg Airport. “As in previous summers, swimming breaks in Spain are very popular, but there is also very strong demand on flights to Greece, Turkey and Egypt. With more flights, more destinations and more variety, I am certain that our new summer programme will be well received by the people of northern Germany.”
New destinations in Hamburg Airport’s route network
Flights to three completely new destinations serve to extend the Hamburg Airport route network from the start of the summer timetable period. Two of them are being launched by Ryanair. Starting on 1 April, the Irish airline is operating two flights per week, on Mondays and Fridays, to Zadar on Croatia’s Adriatic coast. One day later, on 2 April, Ryanair is launching a new service to Krakow. There will be three connections per week between the southern Polish city and Hamburg, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
And Condor is also adding a new destination to the Hamburg route network, with a weekly service to Kalamata on the Greek Peloponnese peninsula every Friday from 3 May.
New services to existing destinations
In addition to the completely new destinations, there is also more choice on ten other routes thanks to additional airlines adding services there from Hamburg. Right at the start of the summer timetable, a new airport is coming to Hamburg Airport: LEVEL (Anisec) is starting on 31 March with six flights per week to Vienna, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. This schedule makes the service equally attractive to both business and private passengers.
Corendon Airlines is launching services to two new sun-break destinations. From 27 April, the airline is operating two weekly services, on Mondays and Saturdays, to Heraklion on Crete. And on 1 June, Corendon Airlines is adding a twice-weekly service, Wednesdays and Sundays, to Izmir, Turkey.
Eurowings, too, is carrying Hamburg passengers to their swimming vacations, connecting Hamburg with Antalya in Turkey every Saturday from 6 April. Eurowings is also adding three other new weekly services to Turkey: a Friday service to Bodrum from 31 May, a Saturday service to Adana from 1 June, and a Sunday service to Ankara from 2 June.
Condor is expanding its operations to Italy, with a twice-weekly service to Olbia on Sardinia, flying every Wednesday and Saturday from 4 May. SunExpress and Wizz Air are launching new services to the popular holiday destinations of Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast. From 5 June, SunExpress is flying to the coastal city of Burgas every Wednesday, while Wizz Air is launching a twice weekly service, Tuesdays and Saturdays, to the seaside resort of Varna on 2 July.
Increased frequencies on popular routes
Extra flights are being offered to several popular destinations for the summer timetable. Air France is adding an extra service to Paris on four days a week, with up to five flights per day to the French capital from 31 March. Austrian Airlines is expanding its service to Vienna with up to two additional frequencies per day, operating up to six daily flights there from 1 April.
TUIfly is focusing its attention on seaside destinations in Greece for the summer timetable, adding extra flights on its routes to Rhodes, Crete and Kos. Condor, too, has attractive routes for sun-lovers. The airline is boosting its service to Palma de Mallorca, with up to 16 flights there per week in the peak season. Condor is also flying more frequently to Antalya and Crete, with up to nine weekly services to the Turkish coastal city and five weekly services to the Greek island in the peak season.
From 4 April, Iberia is expanding its daily operations to Madrid, with eleven flights per week. This gives passengers from Hamburg a new evening service to the city on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, with ideal connecting flights available to Latin America.
