Around 11:00 (UTC -4), several customers reported check-in issues at different U.S. and Canadian airports. Sabre, the company that provides IT solutions to airlines like American Airlines, WestJet, Alaska Airlines and JetBlue reported a brief technical issue that impacted multiple carriers.
Indeed, airlines were not able to check in or board passengers resulting in queues at check-in and boarding gates, flights were not able to depart. Forty minutes later, Sabre was able to track down the source of the problems. On the technical issue Sabre said: “We are aware of the issues facing some of our customers. Recovery is in progress. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Sabre, developed by Texas-based Sabre Holdings, provides service to more than 400 airlines and 220,000 hotels.
