Eindhoven Airport experienced two separate one-hour shutdowns on Wednesday due to a shortage of military air traffic controllers, causing delays to dozens of flights and affecting most of the 21,000 passengers travelling that day. The first stoppage occurred at 09:30, with a second in the afternoon.
The airport, which operates on a military airfield, warned that further delays and possible cancellations could follow and urged passengers to monitor airline and airport updates. Airlines are responsible for managing the disruption, which may involve delaying departures or diverting flights to other airports. Airport officials confirmed that nearly all delays after the morning stoppage were linked to the staffing shortage.
