Edinburgh Airport recorded a historic year in 2025, welcoming nearly 17 million passengers (16,980,588)—the highest annual total ever achieved by a Scottish airport. The airport, part of the VINCI Airports network, credited the milestone to strong travel demand and a significant expansion of its route network.
Growth was supported by several high-profile additions in 2025, including JetBlue’s new summer service to Boston, the return of American Airlines’ summer flights to Philadelphia, and Air Canada’s launch of a new Montréal route. Long-haul connectivity was further strengthened with Hainan Airlines introducing a year-round service to Beijing, alongside the inauguration of 10 new easyJet routes.
Momentum is set to continue into 2026, with already-announced developments including American Airlines adding New York to its network and extending its Philadelphia service into the winter season, as well as Luxair’s entry into the Scottish market with a seasonal route to Luxembourg.
Edinburgh Airport CEO Gordon Dewar said the results reflect sustained demand for travel to and from Scotland, adding that the airport’s priority remains expanding choice for passengers while continuing to invest in infrastructure and the overall passenger experience.
