Travellers at Copenhagen Airport faced significant delays on Saturday after an IT failure disrupted passport control operations.
The issue, managed by Copenhagen Police, forced officers to switch to manual passport checks, slowing processing times and leading to long queues in the terminal. Airport officials said the problem was first identified around 13:45, with no immediate estimate on how long the disruptions would last.
While passport control remained operational, the manual procedures created bottlenecks, requiring passengers to allow extra time for clearance.
In an update later in the day, police confirmed that the technical issues had been resolved and systems were back to normal, allowing operations to resume at standard speed.
The incident highlights how dependent modern border control systems are on digital infrastructure, with even short outages quickly impacting passenger flow at busy international hubs.
