Air traffic at both Copenhagen and Oslo airports was halted late Monday after drones were sighted in restricted zones, causing hours of disruption and major flight diversions.
Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) was completely shut from 20:30 until 00:45, with incoming flights diverted to Billund, Aalborg, Malmö, and Landvetter. Police launched a large-scale operation with helicopters but said the drones “disappeared by themselves.” Danish police have opened an investigation, while President Volodymyr Zelenskyy alleged Russia was behind the activity.
In Oslo, a drone sighting near midnight initially forced traffic onto one runway before a full closure at 00:30. Flights circled before being redirected, and the airport reopened around 03:30. Police have not linked the incident to Copenhagen but confirmed two foreign nationals were detained earlier for drone activity over a military zone at Akershus Fortress.
