Copenhagen Airport sets new passenger record in 2025

Share

Copenhagen Airport recorded its busiest year ever in 2025, welcoming a total of 32.4 million passengers through its terminals. This marks the highest annual passenger volume in the airport’s history, surpassing the previous record of 30.3 million set in 2018 and reflecting strong demand for air travel and record-high connectivity between Denmark and the rest of the world.

December 2025 was the busiest month ever at the airport, with 2.46 million passengers, up 13% year-on-year. Overall, the airport handled 2.5 million more travellers in 2025 than in the previous year.

The growth was supported by a significant expansion in air connectivity. During the year, 47 new routes were launched, including services to destinations in China, India and Vietnam, bringing the total number of routes operated from Copenhagen to 367. A total of 62 airlines served the airport, with SAS and Norwegian remaining the two largest operators.

Transfer traffic also increased sharply, rising by 27% compared with 2024. Nearly one in four passengers now connects through Copenhagen Airport, underlining its role as the leading hub in the Nordic region. The growth in transfer passengers has been driven primarily by SAS consolidating a larger share of its operations in Copenhagen, attracting travellers from Sweden, Norway and Northern Europe for long-haul connections, while passengers from North America and Asia increasingly use Copenhagen as their gateway to Europe.

Airport management expects transfer traffic to continue growing in the coming years, reinforcing Copenhagen Airport’s strategic importance for trade, tourism and investment, and its positive impact on the Danish economy.
