Copenhagen Airport recorded its busiest January ever, with 2.2 million passengers passing through the terminals, a 14% increase year on year. Growth was driven by strong leisure demand, expanded winter schedules and rising transfer traffic, particularly from Norway and Sweden.
Scandinavian routes saw sharp increases, with passenger numbers to and from both Norway and Sweden up 26%. In total, the airport handled 612,000 transfer passengers in January—207,000 more than last year—highlighting Copenhagen’s growing role as a regional hub.
The airport also reported continued progress on sustainability, with modern, quieter and more fuel-efficient aircraft now accounting for 39% of movements, up from just 5% in 2019. This share is expected to rise to nearly 50% within a year.
Looking ahead, Copenhagen Airport expects a busy winter holiday period, with 1.37 million passengers forecast during weeks 7 and 8, supported by strong demand for Asian leisure destinations and ski routes across Scandinavia and the Alps.
