In May 2025, Copenhagen Airport welcomed nearly 2.9 million passengers, a 5% year-on-year increase, with a notable 23% rise in transfer passengers, who now represent 22.5% of total traffic.
This growth reinforces Copenhagen Airport’s role as Northern Europe’s leading transport hub, thanks largely to SAS concentrating its long-haul operations there. Around 90% of transfer passengers fly via SAS, often connecting to or from destinations in Norway, Sweden, Germany, or the U.S.
The UK remains the top destination, with 240,000 passengers flying between Copenhagen and nine British airports in May.
U.S. traffic also surged, with 120,000 passengers travelling between Copenhagen and the U.S., up 9% year-on-year. Two new direct routes—to Seattle (SAS) and Minneapolis (Delta)—brought the total to 13 direct U.S. routes.
With the summer peak approaching, up to 9.5 million travellers are expected between June and August. One-third of passengers are Danish; the rest are mostly Swedes, Brits, Americans, Norwegians, and Germans.
