Copenhagen Airport recorded its busiest March ever, handling 2.6 million passengers—up 16% year-on-year—and marking 12 consecutive months of record-breaking traffic.
The surge was driven by strong travel demand, including early Easter ????????? and increased inbound tourism, as well as the airport’s role as a major transfer hub, with nearly 730,000 connecting passengers. Overall, 7 million travellers passed through the airport in the first quarter of 2026, a 14% increase compared to the same period last year.
The start of the summer schedule has further boosted connectivity, with more than 330 routes to 175 destinations operated by 60 airlines. New additions include routes by Scandinavian Airlines to Marseille and Bordeaux, and by WestJet to Halifax.
Looking ahead, Italy is emerging as the top summer destination, with seat capacity up around 20% and 16 destinations on offer—surpassing traditionally popular Spain. Cities such as Rome, Milan, and Naples are expected to attract strong demand.
Despite some uncertainty linked to geopolitical tensions and rising fuel costs, the airport notes that flights are generally fuller than last year, indicating continued resilience in travel demand.
