Copenhagen Airport welcomed over 3.1 million passengers in June, marking its busiest start to summer ever and a 9% increase year-on-year. The surge reflects strong outbound holiday demand and growing inbound tourism, with Spain the top destination and Greece dominating the charter market.
Key Highlights
- Spain drew 240,000 travellers, with Malaga, Mallorca, and Barcelona among the top spots.
- Over 50% of charter flights from Copenhagen went to Greece, especially Crete and Rhodes.
- 37% of passengers were international tourists, mainly from the UK (18%) and the USA (12%), both showing significant growth.
- Danish travellers made up one-third of all passengers; Swedes, 15%.
Network Expansion
Copenhagen now offers 317 direct routes to 171 destinations across 52 countries, including 13 new routes this summer:
Notable additions: Nuuk (SAS), Chi?in?u (FlyOne – first direct link to Moldova since 2019), Seattle (SAS), and Minneapolis (Delta).
With this sharp rise in travel, airport officials say they are well-prepared and focused on maintaining smooth operations during the peak summer season.
