Freebird Airlines Europe is ramping up its presence at Cologne Bonn Airport with the launch of five new direct routes for the summer 2026 season and the stationing of an aircraft at the base.
Starting from late June, the airline will introduce flights to several popular holiday destinations, including Crete, Kos, Rhodes, Fuerteventura, and Pristina. The new routes will add 12 weekly connections, contributing to a total of 19 weekly flights during peak season.
To support the expansion, an Airbus A320 will be based at Cologne/Bonn, initially through mid-September, with a possible extension. The aircraft will operate all newly introduced routes.
The move reflects strong demand for Mediterranean leisure travel, with airport officials highlighting the importance of expanding connections to sun destinations. In parallel, sister carrier Freebird Airlines will continue its daily service to Antalya.
The expansion strengthens Cologne/Bonn’s position as a departure point for holiday travel, offering passengers more direct options to key summer destinations across Southern Europe and beyond.
