A light aircraft crashed near Chambéry Airport in Voglans around 10:45 on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of three people—two women and a man. The male victim, who was the pilot, was from Aix-les-Bains.
The aircraft, a Robin DR-400/190 Major registered F-GTPL belonging to the Chambéry flying club, went down in a field during landing while on approach runway 36 at Chambéry Airport, without catching fire or striking any nearby homes. The crash site was close to a residential area, south of the airport.
Authorities secured the area by midday, allowing investigators to begin forensic examinations. A medical-psychological support unit has been deployed for victims’ relatives and witnesses. A gendarmerie investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
