French infrastructure group Egis and its partners have officially assumed management of Cayenne Félix-Éboué Airport under a 30-year concession aimed at modernising the gateway and supporting regional development.
The consortium — comprising Egis, Alyse Guyane, Caisse des Dépôts, the Guyane Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Léon Grosse — will launch an €85 million investment program focused on upgrading facilities, improving passenger flows, and enhancing the overall airport experience.
Renovation works will be carried out within the existing terminal, with the core transformation phase set for completion by 2029.
Cayenne Airport, which handled nearly 500,000 passengers in 2024, plays a vital role in French Guiana’s connectivity, serving as the primary hub for domestic, international, and space-related traffic. It accommodates large aircraft used for satellite transport to the Guiana Space Centre, making it a key logistics asset for European space operations, while also supporting NATO activities at nearby Air Base 367.
Egis aims to make the airport a benchmark for sustainability, targeting ISO 14001 and 50001 certifications as well as Airport Carbon Accreditation Level 4+ by 2030.
The takeover marks Egis’s 21st airport worldwide and its first on the American continent. In Belgium, Egis manages Antwerp and Ostend-Bruges airports.
