An approach and the subsequent landing of this Argentinian Air Force Boeing 737-500 (T-04) at Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery, Argentina has stunned the pilot world. Scott Bateman, former veteran and pilot, commented on his Twitter line: I doubt this landing is SOP (standard operating procedure) for any airline.

A social media user mentioned that the aircraft was the presidential aircraft and that is was cleared for a visual approach.

Have a look for yourself, comments welcome at the bottom of the article 😉

  1. Does not look dangerous at all. In fact, it looks deliberate and in full control. SOP? Most probably no where close to SOPs!!
Looks like a L seater who intimately knows his/her “ride” farkin around a bit…old skool flying.
Unfortunately, can’t do this stuff in today’s envy-laden woke world of self righteous, know-it-all-social-media-allstars. Wouldn’t expect these aviation puppy mill products to remotely understand what’s going on here, especially since it is way above their skill level!
So kudos to these cats, nicely done, enjoyed watching it…good luck explaining the resulting PR $hit storm to your CO 🙂

  2. If anyone is curious as to why aviation safety is far better now than in the ‘good old days’ just refer to the previous comment. In transport category aircraft the better pilot is the one that flies in the middle of the envelope, not the edge or outside it like these cowboys. A lot of effort has gone into weeding out these hazardous attitudes. Getting bank angle warnings below 100ft and landing halfway down the runway are not indicators of superior skill – they’re indicators of potential bent metal.

  3. obviously, the guy has skill, and knows the plane and what it will do ,lets applaud a skilled pilot not listen to all the jealous wingers who know more about flying kites than planes

  4. Military pilot flying an obviously stock civil aircraft (hence the automated advisories – bank angle, bank angle, etc).Bread and butter for this guy. Landed a little long otherwise great flying, me thinks. A non standard approach into a civil aerodrome is the only real concern but tower clearance would have been given.
