Budapest Airport is gearing up for its busiest winter season ever, with record seat capacity, new destinations, and expanding global connectivity for Winter 2025 (W25).
The airport will offer 8.9 million seats, up 12.5% year-on-year, across 182 routes — an increase of 26 from last winter. Seven new destinations are joining the network: easyJet will launch flights to Nantes and Bordeaux, Jet2.com adds Newcastle and East Midlands, Ryanair opens a route to Marrakech, and Wizz Air introduces Turin and Tallinn. Meanwhile, SAS will expand its Copenhagen service to daily frequencies during peak months.
Budapest’s growing route map reflects surging demand, including strong indirect traffic on long-haul markets such as New York, Toronto, Bangkok, Hanoi, and Seoul, positioning the airport as a rising Central European hub ready for future direct long-haul services.
Looking ahead to Summer 2026, long-haul connectivity will expand further: American Airlines will return with flights to Philadelphia, Air Canada will resume Toronto, and Condor will strengthen links to Frankfurt with three daily flights. A new Hungary–China air service agreement will also pave the way for increased frequencies to China.
“Budapest Airport is entering a bold new chapter of diversified growth,” said Markus Klaushofer, CCO of Budapest Airport. “With record winter traffic and major transatlantic developments ahead, we’re solidifying our position as Central and Eastern Europe’s leading airport.”
