Share

The second month of 2018 ended on a positive note for Brussels South Charleroi Airport. 507,429 passengers were recorded, compared with 484,757 in February 2017, so an increase of 5%. These figures reflect the excellent occupancy rates of around 90%, which saw a small rise of 2% compared to the same period in 2017.

In February 2018, Italy remained the most popular destination for flights to and from Brussels South Charleroi Airport. It was followed by Spain, Morocco and France. Taking up the final position in this top 5 was Romania, adding Central and Eastern Europe to the rankings.

Jean-Jacques CLOQUET, CEO of Brussels South Charleroi Airport, explains: “February 2018 finished with a new rise in passenger traffic. Our airport continues to grow in an increasingly competitive environment. The diversification strategy we have implemented is being ramped up. The season looks promising, with the return of Air Corsica, the increase in flights to Minsk (Belavia) and the new flights announced by Ryanair (Malta) and Wizz Air (Iasi and Sibiu). Last but not least, a new chapter is about to begin for Brussels South Charleroi Airport with the upcoming arrival of Air Belgium and the launch of the first long-haul route to Hong Kong.”
