647,720 passengers in May 2015 at Brussels South Charleroi Airport (+12 percent)

In May 2015, Brussels South Charleroi Airport saw an increase in the number of passengers welcomed. 647,720 passengers came through BSCA during May this year, compared with 579,814 for the same period in 2014. This is equivalent to a rise of 12% compared with 2014. The average load factor of planes at Charleroi was around 86%, so a rise of 6% compared with the results achieved last year.

As is true every month, the destinations available from Brussels South Charleroi Airport have been analysed to see which are the most popular countries and cities. In May 2015, Italy came first in the rankings followed by Spain, France, Morocco and Poland. The top 5 destinations attracting the most visitors in May were:

1Warsaw (Poland)
2Milan (Italy)
3Budapest (Hungary)
4Madrid (Spain)
5Rome (Italy)

These results are higher than those expected by Brussels South Charleroi Airport. Jean-Jacques Cloquet, BSCA’s CEO, is very pleased with them: “Charleroi airport saw a considerable rise in numbers in May 2015. A two-figure rise is above what we could have hoped for. This might be explained by the fact that many bank holidays fell before a weekend, which meant that lots of people could get away for a city break at very reasonable prices.
