The Sheraton Airport Hotel, located opposite Brussels National Airport, will close from Friday night following the discovery that some fire safety systems no longer meet current standards.
Brussels Airport Company, the building’s owner since 2018, reported the issue to authorities after recent operational tests. Acting as a precaution, the Mayor of Zaventem ordered the temporary shutdown.
Managed by Marriott International, the hotel has not faced any incident endangering guests or staff. Brussels Airport is working on corrective measures to enable reopening as soon as possible.
