During an award ceremony held at the Sheraton Brussels Airport Hotel on Wednesday evening, 27th February, Brussels Airport rewarded its partners and the airlines that distinguished themselves from the others by punctuality, performance, environment, safety and development.

Brussels Airport handed out the Aviation Awards for the 12th time. Aviation24.be was present at the ceremony to report.

Performance and Punctuality Awards

The Performance and Punctuality Awards reward passenger and cargo airlines that are punctual and perform well. Punctuality is the best on-time performance, that is with an arrival or departure within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.

The performance for cargo is calculated using the number of weekly flights, the number of destinations, the total quantity of cargo flown, the cargo per flight and the growth in cargo tonnage.

Performance Award Cargo Airlines – Singapore Airlines Cargo

Punctuality Award Short Haul Airline – Eurowings

In 2018, Eurowings was the most punctual short-haul airline with 86% of their flights departing within 15 minutes of the STD.

Punctuality Award Long Haul Airline – All Nippon Airways

88% of All Nippon Airways’ flights departed with 15 minutes of STD.

Cargo Awards

BRUcargo Award – WFS Worldwide Flight Services Belgium

Logistic Provider Award – DHL Global Forwarding

Sometimes you are just too late to take a picture 😉

Environment and Safety Awards

The Environment and Safety Awards are presented to airlines or partners that have made a particular contribution to the environment and to the on-going improvement of safety standards and awareness.

Environment Award 2018 – Thai Airways International

Thai Airways wasn’t able to collect the environment award as the airline was busy rebooking passengers after the closure of Pakistan air space. Tomorrow’s flight from Brussels has been cancelled.

Safety award – Tec4Jets

Network Development Awards

Network Development Award Cargo Airlines – LATAM Cargo

Network Development Award short-haul airlines – Georgian Airways & TUI fly Belgium

Network Development Award long-haul airlines – Cathay Pacific
