Staff union ACV Puls held a symbolic action at Brussels Airport on Tuesday, bringing a life-size cardboard figure of Brussels Airport Company (BAC) CEO Arnaud Feist to the terminal. The union says the stunt highlights the lack of real dialogue between airport management and employees.
According to ACV Puls, workers have been raising concerns for years, including long queues at security even before shifts begin, the disappearance of staff parking spaces while consultancy firms receive priority, and the absence of proper break facilities for employees of smaller subcontractors. Fragmented outsourcing, the union adds, has increased workload and reduced efficiency across several airport service providers.
“If the real CEO won’t come to listen to his staff, then we bring him to them,” said Hans Elsen of ACV Puls. He stressed that the action is “not an attack, but a distress signal”, calling for basic respect and genuine consultation.
The union says the demonstration aims to “give employees a voice in a place where they have been ignored for too long” and urges BAC to engage constructively with its workforce.
