A drone was detected near Brussels Airport for the second consecutive evening on Saturday, September 12, with Skeyes confirming that the unmanned aircraft was not only visually observed but also digitally detected by its drone-detection equipment.
The new incident occurred at around 20:00 local time, according to Skeyes spokesperson Kurt Verwilligen. “There was indeed another drone incident,” Verwilligen confirmed. Unlike Friday evening, when the drone was visually observed by an air traffic control supervisor and Brussels Airport security personnel, Saturday’s incident also produced a technical record.
“We not only saw the drone visually, but also have a digital registration of the incident. This was done with our detection equipment,” Verwilligen said.
Skeyes has not released details about the drone, including its type, flight characteristics or who may have been operating it. An investigation into the incident is ongoing. It is also not yet known whether Saturday’s drone was operated by the same person or was otherwise connected to the drone reported near Brussels Airport on Friday.
