Nippon Express has officially opened a new 10,000 m² sustainable logistics facility at Brussels Airport’s Brucargo Central, doubling its operational space. With 2,000 m² of temperature-controlled warehousing, the facility is designed to support the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector and will serve as the company’s European Pharma Gateway.
The building, developed by Brussels Airport Company, is part of a broader 34,000 m² redevelopment of Brucargo Central, aimed at sustainability and efficiency, with BREEAM Excellent certification and goals aligned with the airport’s net-zero emissions target by 2030.
This move consolidates Nippon Express’ three previous sites into one, enhancing logistical efficiency, promoting the Japanese principles of kaizen (continuous improvement) and omotenashi (attentive service), and reinforcing its long-term commitment to Brussels Airport, a leading European pharma hub.
Flemish officials hailed the investment as proof of Flanders’ strength as a strategic and attractive logistics location for foreign investors.
