On Tuesday 2 October, the trade unions are holding a national demonstration in Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Namur, Liège, La Louvière and Brussels. Schools and public transport are likely to be affected by the nationwide day of action. At 10:00 (UTC +2) a march will set off from Brussels Central Station.
Brussels Airport is advising passengers to look for alternative means of transport or to leave for the airport well ahead of time as several bus drivers are expected to participate in the demonstration. Public bus services operated by De Lijn and MIVB/STIB to and from the airport may be disrupted.
There is no word yet that other companies at Brussels Airport will participate in the national demonstration.
The unions are striking against planned federal government reforms on pensions and the proposed retirement age.
