Industrial action on June 25th will stun Brussels Airport

Share

Due to a national industrial action planned for Wednesday 25 June, which includes the participation of the staff of Brussels Airport’s security service provider, the airport expects major disruptions to airport operations throughout the day.

“This strike action directly affects our ability to provide the necessary security screenings and services required for the safe processing of passengers, which has led us, in close consultation with the airlines, to make the difficult decision to cancel all departing passenger flights scheduled for that day,” the airport wrote, adding that “the safety of our passengers and staff remains our top priority, and we are taking these exceptional measures to maintain a safe and orderly environment during the strike.”

Passengers who were scheduled to depart from Brussels Airport on 25 June will be contacted directly by their respective airlines regarding their options, which may include rebooking, refund arrangements, or other forms of assistance. While arriving flights may still operate in some cases, it is possible that some of these will also be cancelled or rescheduled due to the wider operational impacts of the industrial action. We strongly advise all passengers—whether arriving or departing—to consult their airline directly or check the status of their flight on the Brussels Airport website or app before heading to the airport, keeping in mind that cancellations will only appear online once they have been officially registered by the airline.

In addition to flight disruptions, significant impacts on public transport services are also expected on the day of the strike. Travellers planning to reach the airport via train or bus should be aware that services operated by NMBS/SNCB and De Lijn may be reduced or cancelled. Passengers are recommended to check their official websites for the most up-to-date travel information.
