Brussels Airport has launched preparatory works for the construction of a brand-new drop-off zone, set to open by October 2026. The new facility will be built directly behind the Sheraton hotel, at the same level as the departures hall, offering passengers a smoother and more comfortable connection to the terminal.

The redesigned area will be larger than the current drop-off zone and is specifically designed to accommodate the airport’s growing passenger numbers. It will feature improved accessibility, including a dedicated assistance point for passengers with reduced mobility, as well as landscaped surroundings with seating areas to make farewells more pleasant.

To ensure smooth traffic circulation, a new junction is being constructed on the A201, the road connecting the Brussels Ring Road to the airport. This junction will provide direct access to the drop-off zone via a dedicated road and bridge, separating passenger drop-off traffic from other flows.

During construction, the current drop-off area next to car park P1 will remain in use, and car parks P1, P2, and P3 will remain accessible. As with the existing setup, the new zone will be reserved for short goodbyes only, with Interparking continuing to operate the facility. Passengers collecting arrivals will be directed to the airport’s car parks.

This new drop-off area represents the first milestone of Hub 3.0, Brussels Airport’s large-scale redevelopment programme announced earlier this year. Once completed, the current drop-off zone—built in 2016—will be cleared to make way for a new intermodal hub, bringing together train, tram, and bus connections.

Hub 3.0 will also include an extension of the departure and arrival halls, a new airport hotel, and a green boulevard with a park. The entire project is expected to be finalised by 2032.
