Brussels Airport has announced that all departing passenger flights scheduled for Tuesday, 14 October, will be cancelled due to national industrial action. The disruption comes after staff from the airport’s security service provider confirmed their participation in the strike, which is expected to impact airport operations severely.
In consultation with the airlines, the airport decided not to operate any departing flights in order to ensure the safety of both passengers and staff. Airlines will be contacting affected travellers in the coming days to provide further information and alternative options.
The strike action is also expected to affect arriving flights, with some cancellations likely. Passengers are advised to check directly with their airline for the latest updates on their flight status.
Public transport is also expected to face disruptions on the same day. Brussels Airport is urging passengers and staff to consult the official websites of NMBS/SNCB and De Lijn for the most up-to-date travel information.
In its announcement, the airport expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the industrial action and thanked passengers for their understanding.
