Brussels Airport will set a special security line for families

Flying with your children will become a pleasure

This summer, Brussels Airport tested a new safety control system. They organised a special queue for families with children for a week. And the experience is rather convincing. From next holiday, the system should be set up.

When going on holiday with children, the big departure at the airport is always a stressful time. The children run in all directions. The stroller is struggling to get through the door of the security check, the baby bottle exceeds the allowed 100 ml. In short, it is not easy. So to improve the experience of passengers, Brussels Airport has set up a special line through security for families with children.

No stress

The spokeswoman for the airport Nathalie Van Impe said that they have set up this special line for a week in early summer. They had used additional staff to make sure the experiment is going well. And team members invited people with children under twelve years old to go to the special queue. “Everything went very smoothly, we will now evaluate the operation” said the spokeswoman. There will be two assessment criteria: the satisfaction of travellers and the practicality.

Additional staff

There will be more staff because dedicating a queue for families with children demands more staff for everything to go well. But according to Nathalie Van Impe, hiring more people is not a problem: “We are ready to invest. We rely on the experience of the traveller. Holiday starts at the airport...”

These lines would be accessible for passengers of all companies but would be organised only during school holidays. As for the age of children, the airport expects the age of twelve, but nothing is definitive yet. “We will not start asking the child ID card, it has to be fluid” says the spokeswoman.

If the evaluation is positive, this line should be put in place for All Saints Day.
