Brussels Airport has announced that passenger flights will not resume before Thursday afternoon, at the earliest.
The test of the temporary check-in area that has been installed along with enhanced security measures after the March 22 terror attacks was carried out Tuesday with the help of 800 volunteers, in addition to 200 staff.
According to the airport, the evaluation of the test will last until Thursday at noon and possibly longer. That will prevent a resumption of passenger activities before the afternoon of that day. But officials say they will only resume flights when they are able to operate at 20% capacity.
Brussels Airport CEO Arnaud Feist has said earlier that it will take months to reopen fully, as the departures hall will have to be rebuilt “from the air conditioning to the check-in desks“.
