Travellers flying from Brussels Airport will soon have much better public transport options for early-morning departures. The Belgian rail operator SNCB/NMBS has announced that, from December 2027, night trains will run every day between Bruges, Ghent, Brussels, and Brussels Airport.

The new services will arrive at the airport as early as 03:30, a major improvement for passengers catching early flights. Currently, the first weekday trains from Bruges and Ghent reach the airport only after 05:30, while trains from central Brussels arrive around 04:30. Weekend services start even later.

The night trains form part of SNCB’s new 2026–2029 transport plan, approved by the Belgian government. The broader plan includes:

  • Expanded rail services in and around Brussels, Antwerp, Liège, and Charleroi.
  • Additional late-evening and Saturday-night trains on several routes serving Brussels.
  • Continued development of the Brussels Regional Express Network (RER).

Infrastructure improvements are also planned:

  • Braine Alliance railway station is scheduled to open in December 2026.
  • The Moensberg railway station and Linkebeek railway stations are expected to be merged into a single station by 2028.

For air travellers in western Belgium, the new airport night trains should make it much easier to reach Brussels Airport without needing a car, taxi, or overnight stay near the airport.
