A new DHL survey of 1,416 residents near Brussels Airport in Zaventem reveals broad support for the airport and its operations, including night flights, with minimal political stakes perceived by the local population.
Commissioned by DHL, the study was carried out by Indiville, covering both bordering and surrounding municipalities in Flemish Brabant and Brussels. The 2025 edition introduced a more detailed regional breakdown to compare sentiment across these areas.
DHL, which handles half of Zaventem’s night flights, emphasised the need for night operations to ship urgent medical supplies and biotech exports. 60% of shipments processed come from Belgium and neighbouring countries.
In conclusion, despite ongoing concerns about noise, most residents remain supportive of the airport’s role, particularly its contribution to the regional and national economy.
