Brussels Airport expects a record-breaking Christmas holiday period, with nearly 1.06 million passengers travelling between Friday 19 December and Sunday 4 January—almost 3% more than last year. The busiest days are forecast to be Friday 19 December, marking the start of the holidays with around 70,000 passengers, and Monday 29 December, the peak changeover day with nearly 72,000 travellers.
Passengers will have access to 137 direct destinations this winter, including new routes to Sälen/Scandinavian Mountains Airport in Sweden, Larnaca in Cyprus and Chongqing in China. Traditional winter sports destinations such as Innsbruck, Salzburg and Kittila remain popular, while sunny escapes like the Canary Islands, Egypt, Cape Verde and Morocco continue to attract strong demand. Long-haul destinations including Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong are also seeing high passenger numbers.
The airport will enhance the festive atmosphere with Christmas decorations, live performances by the Scaletta children and youth choir and the Harmonie Sint-Rumoldus youth orchestra on 19 December, as well as appearances by Santa and his elves in the days leading up to Christmas.
Brussels Airport advises passengers to arrive in good time, consider public transport or pre-book parking, comply with hand luggage liquid rules, and use the Brussels Airport App for real-time flight updates to ensure a smooth journey during the busy holiday period.
