The Brussels Airport Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, is providing €100,000 to support 11 social and sustainability projects in communities around the airport. Selected from 43 submissions by an independent jury, each initiative will receive between €3,000 and €10,000 to implement its activities in 2026.
The projects focus on nature, community engagement, and sustainable mobility. Highlights include intergenerational vegetable gardens in Brussels, composting initiatives in Kraainem, community allotments and gardens for people with disabilities in Haren and Wezemaal, and a green play area at De?Windroos primary school in Machelen. Sustainable mobility projects include cycling lessons for women from vulnerable groups and canal clean-up and environmental education programmes led by City To Ocean.
Since its establishment in 2023, the Fund has supported 42 initiatives with a total of €362,000, and a new call for projects will open in May 2026 for implementation in 2027.
