Brussels Airport, Liege Airport, and Ostend-Bruges Airport are launching a joint initiative to standardise and digitise customs procedures for air cargo operations across Belgium. Coordinated by Air Cargo Belgium and LGG Connect, the project will allow cargo companies to exchange import, export, and transit customs declarations digitally through the airports’ community platforms.
The initiative supports the European MASP-C customs modernisation programme and will replace parts of the current Paperless Customs and Excise system. Cargo operators will be able to submit Temporary Storage Declarations digitally via BRUCloud at Brussels Airport and LGG Tracking at Liege Airport, with both platforms using the same interfaces and operating principles while remaining separately connected to Belgian customs systems.
The partners say the harmonised system will simplify customs procedures, improve efficiency, and make Belgian airports more attractive for international trade and logistics. The collaboration is presented as a rare example of cooperation within the Belgian aviation sector.
Development of the digital portal will continue over the coming months, with the system expected to become operational before the end of 2026. Executives from Brussels Airport, Liege Airport, and Air Cargo Belgium emphasised that the project will strengthen Belgium’s position as a major European logistics hub through greater digital integration, transparency, and operational efficiency.
