Airlines to deploy bigger aircraft to Brussels Airport, one day after the national strike

Due to today’s national strike in Belgium, and the consequent closure of the Belgian airspace below 24,500 feet, airlines face a passenger backlog. Hence, tomorrow 14 February some airlines will deploy bigger aircraft to Brussels Airport.

For example, Air Europe will change the smaller Embraer E190 to a bigger Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Much to the delight for plane spotters and – most likely – passengers on board.

  • Etihad Airways EY57 from Abu Dhabi B77W A6-ETC
  • SWISS LX786 from Zurich A321 HB-IOF
  • Air Europa UX1171 from Madrid B788
  • Air Canada AC832 from Montreal A333 C-GHKW

Delta will also send a second 767 in addition to its usual Boeing 767 from JFK.
