Passengers travelling through Belgian airports are up for another day of social actions on Monday (25 March) as union ACV-Transcom, representing part of the Belgian air traffic controllers, disagrees with the agreement that has been reached between skeyes and another union.
The impact of the actions are currently unclear, but Eurocontrol already announces high delays at Brussels Airport and in Belgian airspace below FL245.
In the past few days and weeks, Belgian air traffic below FL245 was disrupted several times as a result of industrial actions at Skeyes (former Belgocontrol). Air traffic at various Belgian airports, including Brussels Airport, Brussels South Charleroi Airport and Liege Airport, was affected.
Social tensions at Skeyes are due to staff dissatisfaction with several issues. The friction points revolve around demands for career breaks, appointments and bonuses, as well as a new staff training centre on the Steenokkerzeel site of Skeyes, right next to Brussels Airport.
