A summer full of sports at Brussels Airport!

Brussels Airport is adopting its sportiest look in the months ahead. It supports the national soccer team at the FIFA World Cup in Russia and is putting in a sprint to the Memorial Van Damme. Thanks to the many screens in the bars and restaurants, departing passengers will not have to miss any of the Belgian matches. And passengers who feel like doing a bit of sport themselves can make a virtual cycle trip with a view of the tarmac or set their fastest time ever on our indoor athletics track.

United behind the Red Devils

Our Red Devils are off to the FIFA World Cup! For those who will not be there in Russia, Brussels Airport has set up a soccer pitch – a small one – on the pavement in front of the departure hall.

Next to the summer terrace, passengers can take a seat in the dugout where the trainer and bench players normally sit and enjoy a picnic with a view of the tarmac. Once inside, passengers can follow the matches live on the screens in the airport’s restaurants and bars. There is even a large film screen near the Sports Bar in Pier A.

A super tight match, but no more time to watch it on the screen? At strategic places in the airport, stewardesses will be carrying screens with live scores of the matches.

On various days, freestyle footballers will be demonstrating their tricks and everybody can join in. Passengers, big and small, can learn new tricks and show off their own talents! And the sporty who want to steal the show in appropriate outfits can also find the official World Cup T-shirts at the airport.

3, 2, 1, go!

After the FIFA World Cup, Brussels Airport will be looking forward to field and track events during and after the summer. A track will be set up around the soccer pitch, the ideal place to prepare yourself for the Memorial Van Damme on 31 August or the Brussels Airport Marathon and Half Marathon in Brussels on 28 October. Tracks will be laid throughout the entire airport.

But no summer of sports is complete with a solid dose of cycling. Passengers are welcome to jump on one of our bikes in Pier B for a virtual cycle trip!

In the children’s corners in the departure hall, Pier A and Pier B, our young passengers can have a go on all sorts of customised fitness equipment. Interactive games are also be provided in various places.

Following these workouts, passengers can take a selfie in front of a backdrop with stand. The most original photos will be published on the Brussels Airport Facebook page.
